Do you see how dark my bedside table is? No. You can't. BECAUSE THERE IS NOT ENOUGH LIGHT IN MY BEDROOM. What's standing between me and sweet relief from eyestrain, I believe, is a great wall sconce. I'd place one on each side of the headboard, then move the lamp to the other side of my bedside table (which doubles as a vanity and desk) for twice the nighttime light.
Problem is, I haven't yet rewired my bedroom, and I won't be doing it any time soon, as my ongoing kitchen renovation is eating all of my spare change. So installing a hard-wired sconce is out of the question. But the more I look at pictures of rooms with wall sconces, the more I realize how little I care if there's a covered plug hanging down from the sconce to an outlet (or extension cord below). In fact, I'm starting to find plug-in sconces downright charming.
Really, is there anything NOT to love about this little artsy-modern nook?

No. There is not. So let's go ahead and shop for corded wall sconces.
1. Ranarp wall clamp, $20, IKEA. 2. Trend Lighting Journey wall sconce, $109, Wayfair. 3. Hudson Valley Lighting Stanley 1-light wall sconce, $549, Wayfair. 4. Lynwood sconce, $250, Rejuvenation. 5. Eyeball sconce, $34, Urban Outfitters. 6. House of Troy Greensboro pin-up wall lamp, $99, Wayfair.
I'm leaning towards something classic like #6, but may gamble on something sexy and weird like #5 given the ridiculously low price tag and the fact that it's not a permanent installation. Which would you choose?
